On June 4, 2025, the city of Bremen proudly inaugurated a public space named in honour of Jîna Amînî, paying tribute to her enduring legacy and the global movement her name inspired. This meaningful recognition stands as a symbol of resistance, resilience, and the unyielding fight for justice, especially for Kurdish women.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, community members, and activists, including a warm presence from Kurdish women who stood in unity holding their flags and banners, honouring Jîna’s spirit. Special appreciation goes to the Mayor of Bremen, who not only supported the initiative but personally attended the event and welcomed guests with grace and solidarity. The interactions with the Mayor and city officials highlighted a shared commitment to human rights, gender equality, and Kurdish representation on the world stage.
The dedication of Jîna Amînî’s name to this public space—*Jina-Mahsa-Amini-Platz*—has not only resonated across Germany but echoed globally. With the support of the German government, this initiative draws attention to the historic struggles of the Kurdish people—especially the experiences of Kurdish women under oppressive regimes.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Mayor of Bremen and all the organizers and participants who contributed to making this event possible. On behalf of Kurdish women everywhere, we express our deepest appreciation for this powerful act of solidarity.
This commemoration is more than a symbolic gesture—it is a call to the world to remember, to act, and to stand with those whose voices have been silenced for too long.
